Lightstone sensor with M1 mac

Post by gkellett »

Hello,
I'm trying to use my lightstone usb Iom sensor with Alive Clinical (or any software that will allow me to monitor heart rate and heart rate variability realtime)... having not used the system for awhile.

I'm using an M1 mac, Monterey 12.6 operating system.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi,

The Lightstone sensor driver was written many years ago by Wild Divine. That sensor's drivers don't work on 64 bit versions of macOS. If you only need HR and HRV you'll get a much higher quality (more accurate) heart rate signal if you purchase an iFeelUSB sensor for $149 from www.somaticvision.com/iFeelUSB

I would choose the soft finger sensor version, plus grab an extra couple of soft foam sensors if you want to use this with kids under 8 years old (with small fingers).

It's possible, now that we've acquired the Wild Divine, that we will rewrite a driver for macOS for this old Lightstone device, but we don't have the source files for those drivers, nor the firmware for that device (it was just made so long ago) so we might or might not be successful.

Best,
